Pre International Referee Course.
Inaugural Pre International Referee Course crowned with success .
A Pre International Referee Course was organised in Luxembourg last week as d’Coque – which is one of the core units of the local FIVB/CEV Development Centre – played host to the 28th edition of the annual Novotel Cup. The course was organised by the Luxembourg Volleyball Federation and CEV in cooperation with the FIVB/CEV Development Centre – Luxembourg. Ten future international candidate referees from five countries – France, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Slovenia, and Sweden – attended the course supervised by two highly-qualified lecturers, ERC Secretary Fred Kröger (GER) and FIVB Rules of the Game Commission member Jean-Claude Baccus (BEL).
The course had already started on December 15 with an online module supervised by the tutors whereby the future candidates got familiar with the latest version of the rules of the game. The programme then continued in Luxembourg City where the attendees reviewed a number of items in order to continue with their preparations for the achievement of their long-term goal, i.e. to become, one day, a qualified international referee. The course combined theoretical classes with practical activities as the participants were able to attend as many as 16 international matches on schedule for the Novotel Cup thereby learning from their colleagues officiating there and exchanging views and knowledge with those who have already embarked on a successful career as international referees.
